Windows 7 printer needs driver update

If your printer isn't listed, click Windows Update , and then wait while Windows checks for additional drivers. If none are available and you have the installation CD, click Have Disk , and then browse to the folder where the printer driver is located. For additional help, consult the printer manual. Tip: You can print a test page to make sure the printer is working correctly.

If you've installed the printer but it doesn't work, check the manufacturer's website for troubleshooting information or driver updates. If you're trying to add a network printer at the office, you'll usually need the name of the printer. If you can't find it, contact your network administrator. In the Add Printer wizard, click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer. In the list of available printers, select the one you want to use, and then click Next.

If your computer is connected to a network, only printers listed in Active Directory for your domain are displayed in the list. If prompted, install the printer driver on your computer by clicking Install driver. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Tip: Available printers can include all printers on a network, such as Bluetooth and wireless printers or printers that are plugged into another computer and shared on the network.

You might need permission to install some printers. You can confirm the printer is working by printing a test page. Note: After your printer is installed, you can keep it up to date with automatic Windows 7driver updates.

Make sure that the printer's electrical cord is plugged into an electrical outlet and that the power switch is turned on. If you're printing to a shared printer or a printer on a network, make sure that all necessary computers and routers are turned on too. If your printer or other equipment is plugged in to a surge protector or a backup power supply, make sure that hardware is plugged in and turned on as well. For wireless printers, check the wireless connection.

Many printers have a button that displays a blue wireless icon when wireless is available. A troubleshooter is an automated tool that can find and automatically fix some problems with your PC. In reply to LemP's post on May 31, Dear LemP, We have been using this printer for more than 10 or 15 years without printing problem. We look forward to receive your reply.

In reply to Cassandra Chua's post on June 1, Is there a line for your Epson LQ? If there is a line for the Epson LQ, is the "Processor" column for that line x64 or x86? If there is a line for the Epson LQ, select it and click the "Properties" button. You'll see something like the second screenshot below "Driver Properties" ; what is the "Driver path"? In reply to LemP's post on June 1, Click the "Print Test Page" button. Thank you LemP. I try to go back office today and do what you said, and reply you from there.

In reply to Cassandra Chua's post on June 2, Dear LemP, Good day. I clicked the X closed button twice and this new message "Printer Properties" pop up, please see below screenshot.

Cassandra, Unfortunately, what seems to be happening is that there is something wrong with the printer driver on the computer "pinnacle-dc" to which the printer is physically attached. Press the "Windows Logo" key and "E" simultaneously to open Windows Explorer the file manager In the left pane of Windows Explorer, expand double-click Network Click on pinnacle-dc; if asked for credentials, enter the name and password of an account on that computer Select "Printers" under pinnacle-dc Right-click on the icon for the Epson LQ and choose "Properties;" if you get a popup asking to install a driver, click "Cancel;" you may have to click "Cancel" twice, but you're looking for the printer's "Properties" dialog to open Select the "Sharing" tab on the printer's "Properties" dialog and make a note of the "Share name" Cancel your way out and close the Windows Explorer window.

Open Devices and Printers. While you have the Devices and Printers window in front of you, make a note of all icons that relate to the Epson LQ If the following steps are successful, you'll have another icon in Devices and Printers and you'll want to be able to determine which of the Epson LQ icons is the one you just added. Select the printer make and model from the list. There should already be an entry for Epson LQ If not, stop here and reply letting me know how far you got in these steps and I'll give you further instructions.

Complete the wizard; when you get to the page asking about sharing the printer, be sure to select "Do not share this printer. In reply to LemP's post on June 2, I will carry out what you advised and reply you, that will be probably a couple of days later when I do go back to office.

When attempting to print, the chosen printer shows "driver update needed". If you accept this, the driver appears to copy to the local PC however "driver update needed" is still displayed. In the past I have simply removed the printer then re-installed it, but this is only a temporary fix. The issue soon returns. Now that we are deploying printers with GPO, local admins can no longer remove the printer.

They get "Access denied". How do we resolve the printer frequently wanting an updated driver? No driver updates are being made to the server. I've had this issue on occasion.
