Windows update downloaded but not installed

You can easily delete windows update files. For this you need to stop windows update services running in background.

I thought Windows had already sneaked in the updates elsewhere. When all along it was just asking to start downloading not installing the same. I did this, and after stopping the updates service, the icon disappears from the system tray.

I followed directions and icon does NOT go away. Deleting Software Distribution, rebooting, downloading and installing the 20H2 feature etc. But, even though it all runs without an error even config on reboot it gives an message that the update could not be installed and when looking at it says everything is up to date but in the history it says it failed. In reply to Caio G. Troubleshoot could not recognize the problem. Update assistant gives error msg. Sorry, I should've removed the message about Update Assistant, it won't solve your problem.
